Luca Manzi, an Italian doctor who has abandoned life in Rome to work in a ramshackle hospital in rural Kenya, is surprised to hear that his life-long friend Mario Tirelli is coming to Kenya and assist him with the hospital.

Mario enjoys the trappings of wealth and success that life as a well-known surgeon have brought him and, from the moment of his arrival, it’s plain that his materialistic, impatient ethos will not serve him well in Africa.  Yet Mario says he wants to give his life new meaning, and the two men rekindle their friendship, as Mario adjusts to his new existence.

However, when Mario’s beautiful wife Ginevra arrives from Rome with news of her husband’s involvement in a scandal, it seems that Mario’s motivations for moving to Africa may be far more complex than they first appeared

Together again and in an already testing environment, the three friends are forced to question what it really means to lead “The Perfect Life”.  Through a mixture of comedy and drama, the nature of friendship, love and betrayal are all called into question.
