YOU WILL REMEMBER ME (Canada)
December 18, 2021 @ 10:00 am to approx. 12:30 pm
Edouard (Remy Girard, Les Invasion Barbares), a public figure and retired History teacher, is slowly starting to lose his memory. Accustomed to speaking on all the stands, he must make himself more discreet, even if he believes he still has a lot to say. Edouard’s son-in law hires his daughter Bérénice (Karelle Tremblay, Death of a Ladies Man) to help watch over him, even though she is a little lost herself. Their relationship will lead Edouard to revisit a time from his personal history that he had chosen to forget, and Bérénice to find meaning in her own life. The drama intensifies when Edouard’s wife can no longer stand the effects the dementia has on her husband, and must choose between staying by his side until the end or spending the remaining years on her own terms.
Julie Lebreton, France Castel and David Boutin co-star in this film that Jonathan Romney of Screen Daily called “compelling” and remarked, “Where the film really connects is in its acting, notably in the interplay between Tremblay’s thoughtful, reserved performance and Girard’s thorny but winning characterization, which starts out in familiar cantankerous ‘sacred monster’ mode, but gradually unfolds its nuances.”
